She was the middle child, she surely wasn't wild
And yet she was yelled at most day
She was told she was bad, her dad always seemed mad
So she just learned to put herself away
They never spoke of their love, and she rarely was hugged
Was it just to help her be more tough
She tried to me more wise, her dad would just criticize
So she thought she wasn't good enough
A faint voice said
Get out, get out, get out
Her mother isn't a person who will come to protect her
Get out, get out, get out
Her father just doesn't seem to want to accept her (who will accept her?)
She never went on dates, she really blossomed late
She just couldn't catch a young man's eye
When she was 23, she finally got lucky
And found a man who told her she was fine (baby you're so fine)
He had a plan that they together would go away
To live his dream and she would tag along (you can tag along)
Well she went but didn't fit and his yelling wouldn't quit
No wonder why she always felt so wrong
A soft voice said
Get out, get out, get out
She's got to face the fact that he just isn't the right one
Get out, get out, get out
She's got to get out of there now, even if she has to run (run run run run)
She moved out on her own, to live a dream of her own
They would write and often call, he thought she was his own
She finally spread her wings, she really started to sing
He was threatened by the XXXX, but she asked him to move down
Why, why, why? I don't know the reason why we do the things we do
They moved out near her old friends, she introduced him to them
And they accepted him before too long
He was unhappy there, he said he had to go back where
he was before, she could not come along (you cannot come along)
He told her it was all her fault, and the blame just wouldn't halt
She thought she loved him anyway, alas
Well he dumped her but he called just to tell her how small
he thought she was continued to harass
A loud voice said
Get out, get out, get out
She's got to lose this loser, who just wants to abuse her
Get out, get out, get out
She's got to separate from his friends who don't care if they lose her (friends care, friends care...)
She wished he'd move away and do just what he'd say
But then her friends they offered him a job (money money money money)
She couldn't figure out why her words they would doubt
Her self esteem he felt the need to rob
But they wouldn't believe it was easier to leave
Behind her friendship and say she was wrong
She wonders if they'll accept it if his new wife rejects him
And starts to sing these words before too long
A strong voice said
Get out, get out, get out
She's got to stick with her true friends, not those who reject her
Get out, get out, get out
She's got to find a real man to love and respect her
I think she's found a real man to love and respect her (I know she's real)
